Despite a 50 percent drop in customers and the aggravation of dust, traffic delays and massive earth-moving equipment, Royana Afton says the $12.8 million road construction project tearing up U.S. 1 through the city is worthwhile.
“The road needed resurfacing. There were accidents in front of my store. It’s progress,” said Afton, who has owned the Dairy Belle Ice Cream store at Blue Heron Boulevard and U.S. 1 for about six years.
