The county commission has agreed to waive the Historical Society of Palm Beach County’s office rent in the 1916 Courthouse that houses its museum in downtown West Palm Beach, after pleas that the nonprofit could use the money to improve its offerings.
The seven-member commission unanimously agreed to waive about $45,000 in annual rent the society is charged for office space it uses in the county-owned building, $19.40 per square foot. The museum itself is not required to pay rent.
