Boynton Beach commissioners approve Holiday Inn Express outside Leisureville in a 3-2 vote

A hotel will be built just blocks from Palm Beach Leisureville, commissioners decided Tuesday, despite years of strong opposition from residents at the Boynton Beach senior community.

In a 3-2 decision, commissioners approved the site plans for a Holiday Inn Express, a proposed four-story hotel with 93 guest rooms at 2001 W. Ocean Drive, just outside the entrance to Leisureville. Mayor Jerry Taylor and Commissioner David Merker voted against the project.
