Culinary Arts Academy student Jamika Hart received an award given by Mark Stern, a member of Chaîne des Rôtisseurs and a sub-chapter of Brillat Savarin. She also received a book award from Johnson & Wales University in North Miami. She will be attending the university in the fall.
ST. JOSEPH’S EPISCOPAL SCHOOL
The school has been celebrating Earth Month throughout April with a number of special activities. Today students in the second grade will join in a cleanup at Jaycee Park. Middle school students will participate in the annual science fair Friday in the gym. Earth Sunday will be celebrated at the church at the 9:30 a.m. service Sunday. Participants are asked to take a “South Florida friendly” flowering plant, which will be placed in the butterfly garden.
The school was recognized as a 2013 Green School of Excellence in Palm Beach County.
HAGEN ROAD ELEMENTARY
Kindergarten round up takes place 9 to 10:15 a.m. May 10 in the cafeteria. Students can enroll if they live in the school attendance area and will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1. Registration requirements include two proofs of residence, an original birth certificate, a physical exam and proof of immunization on Florida Form 680. Parents should check the school district website for information concerning a boundary change for Hagen Road Elementary for the upcoming school year. OLYMPIC HEIGHTS HIGH
The career academies, in partnership with the Boca Raton Resort & Club, will hold the sixth annual Olympic Heights Golf Scramble and Silent Auction May 5. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., with a shotgun start slated for 1 p.m. The event, which includes an award dinner and silent auction, will take place at Boca Country Club, 17751 Boca Club Blvd. The cost is $100 per golfer, $350 for a foursome. The cost is $50 for those who wish to attend the awards dinner only. Sponsorships are available. Donations of goods or services for raffle prizes or auction items are also appreciated. Top military, government, and educational leaders will be at William T. Dwyer High on May 9 for a ceremony scheduled to honor Palm Beach County high school seniors who plan to enlist into all branches of the military after graduation this spring.
