PLUMOSA SCHOOL OF THE ARTS
Black Violin, the classically-trained hip hop duo, will perform at the school, 2501 Seacrest Blvd., Delray Beach, Nov. 16. Tickets are $35 for general admission, $75 for VIP, and can be purchased at www.plumosafoundation.org. On Nov. 15, students and teachers at the school will take part in a concert and conversation with the artists.
The Showcase of Schools takes place 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Expo Center at the South Florida Fairgrounds, 9067 Southern Blvd., West Palm Beach. Students and parents will have access to representatives from more than 200 magnet and choice programs, career academies and charter schools available for grades kindergarten to 12 in the district. The 2014-2015 Choice booklets and applications will be available on Oct. 15. Deadline for submitting applications is Dec. 13 for Bak Middle School of the Arts and Dreyfoos School of the Arts. The ninth annual Language and Culture Conference takes place at Santaluces High on Nov. 11. The event offers interactive educator training opportunities for teachers to learn and practice powerful, proven strategies.
