A West Palm Beach lawyer whose firm won a controversial $6.5 million state contract last month serves on a Florida Atlantic University presidential search committee that picked Florida Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater to interview for the job Friday, and Atwater met with the firm’s principal two days before the contract was approved, records show.
Wendy Link, one of 15 members of FAU’s search committee, will bill a projected $50,000 a year, and partner Scott Link more than $1 million annually, under a contract from state-run insurer Citizens whose hourly fees up to $525 were blasted as “wildly inappropriate” by former state insurance consumer advocate Sean Shaw.
