More than 150 demonstrators marched to the front gate of Florida Atlantic University today to protest a recent classroom exercise in which students were asked to write Jesus’ name on a piece of paper and step on it to demonstrate the power of symbols.
“We are here today to take a stand against bigotry, hatred and intolerance that now has become a part of the academic landscape of the Florida Atlantic University,” said the Rev. Mark Boykin, the senior pastor of the Church of All Nations near the FAU campus. The group walked from the church to FAU shortly before noon.
