Audit questions Freedom Shores parent group’s finances

A parent organization that is supposed to support student programs at a Boynton Beach elementary school bought about $8,600 from a purse company that employed two of the organization’s officers as sales agents, according to an investigation by the Palm Beach County School District’s Inspector General’s Office.

That was one of the questionable financial practices that Inspector General Lung Chiu’s office reported it found in an investigation of the Freedom Shores Elementary Parent School Organization, a parent group that is independent of the school district.
