Florida Atlantic University trustees formally launched the search for a new president on Thursday amid discussion of whether the controversies that led Mary Jane Saunders to resign in May would hamper efforts to attract top-notch candidates to succeed her.
Trustees voted to create a search committee of at least 12 members to look for a permanent president. The process is expected to take at least a year. Longtime FAU administrator Dennis Crudele, now serving a stint as acting president that ends in August, was tapped by the trustees to remain in the job as interim president while the search goes on.
