About a month after the Palm Beach County School District quietly fired one of its top officials, 35 people from around the nation are vying to fill his shoes.
The applicants to be the district’s next chief of support operations, overseeing several key support functions including transportation and construction, submitted resumes by midnight Friday. That is far less than the 50 applicants for the same job in February, when the school board eventually hired Tony Rivas for the high-level job.
