Public employees working for Palm Beach County and many of its cities and towns have not received a pay raise in years because of the sour economy.
But with the financial forecast improving for many local governments, leaders say this may be the year their employees receive a salary boost.

Cities at last consider raises
Palm Beach Gardens: City council members last month approved a 2 percent raise and a one-time bonus of 1.5 percent for all of the city’s 450 employees.
Greenacres: Employees received a a 2 percent raise and a $1,500 one-time bonus this year. City officials are considering giving employees another raise during the budget year that begins Oct. 1.
Jupiter: Employees received a 2 percent pay increase last year. City administrators are considering a similar increase during the budget year that begins Oct. 1.
Palm Beach County: Commissioners will consider giving general employees their first raise in four years.
Royal Palm Beach: Leaders are considering raises, but have not determined the amount yet.
Boynton Beach: The city manager says she has not decided whether to recommend a pay increase.
West Palm Beach: A city spokesman says it is “highly unlikely” employees will get raises next year. The city’s employees have not received a raise since 2008.
Lake Worth: City leaders are not considering raises.
