The city wants to stop new Internet cafes from opening, after more than 1,000 of the so-called casinos on the corner have popped up across Florida.
Now that the first one has opened in West Palm Beach at 2100 45th Street, and the city’s development services department has two more applications pending, commissioners are considering what’s called a zoning-in-progress declaration. That would allow the city to stop acting upon requests for new Internet cafes for a period of time, likely four to six months.
