The West Palm Beach Police officer who shot at a man in April on South Dixie Highway and hit a truck instead came to work with a faulty gun the day before the shooting.
Officer Gene Picerno, who was hired at the department in July 1987, was placed on administrative leave after the April 13 shooting and has since returned to duty.
