A federal jury has ordered the city of West Palm Beach to pay $102,490 to a 64-year-old woman who fractured her back and her ring finger in 2010 when two city police officers pushed her after being called to her home by her mentally retarded son.
The jury found West Palm Beach Police Officers Vincent Morton and Douglas Bales “intentionally, but not maliciously” hurt Gloria Grimes-Smith after wrongfully trying to arrest another son on an outstanding warrant for having an open container.
