West Palm Beach officer alleges city demoted him for reporting sex harassment

West Palm Beach officer Randall Maale was demoted not because of improprieties but because he reported claims by two female officers that supervisors sexually harassed them, Maale says in a lawsuit against the city.

The suit was filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court on Oct. 31, less than a week after a judge ordered the city to restore Maale’s rank to lieutenant. Maale’s attorney, Arthur Schofield, said the lawsuit stems from a federal complaint Maale filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
