West Palm Beach officer Randall Maale was demoted not because of improprieties but because he reported claims by two female officers that supervisors sexually harassed them, Maale says in a lawsuit against the city.
The suit was filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court on Oct. 31, less than a week after a judge ordered the city to restore Maale’s rank to lieutenant. Maale’s attorney, Arthur Schofield, said the lawsuit stems from a federal complaint Maale filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
