Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Boynton Beach man Monday night after they say he snatched a phone from a woman who recorded him leaving the scene of a crash in western Lake Worth.
Deputies arrested Gregg L. Percia, 55, on robbery by sudden snatching, burglary and grand theft charges, according to a sheriff’s office arrest report.
At about 7:10 p.m. Monday, Patricia Cinque, a 48-year-old Lake Worth resident, was following a white Volkswagen that was involved in a crash at the intersection of Hagen Ranch Road and Lantana Boulevard.
Cinque stopped the car at the intersection of Northtree Boulevard and Jog Road and told the driver, who was later identified as Percia, to go back to the crash, which she recorded on video, according to the report.
Percia got out of his car, approached Cinque’s car, reached in through the passenger side window and allegedly stole Cinque’s iPhone. He then got back into his car and drove south on Jog Road.
Later that evening, deputies met with Cinque, who identified Percia in a photo lineup, confirming he was the man who she believed stole her phone.
At about 11 p.m., deputies located and arrested Percia at his apartment and took him to sheriff’s office headquarters. He was later booked into the Palm Beach County Jail, where he remained today on $43,000 bail.
