Jabari Kemp began saving for a car around age 5, putting coins into a little piggy bank and daydreaming about sleek lines and the roar of a engine.
All that scrimping and saving paid off last year, when Kemp’s father used the money at an auction to get his son his first car — a used 2008 Mercedes CLK 350.

Statement from the family of Jabari Kemp
To the families, loved ones, friends and well wishers,
It is with great sorrow and the outpouring of sympathy that we the family of Jabari Kemp offer our condolences to the families, loved ones and friends of the five individuals who lost their lives in the tragic accident on April 13th.
We cannot answer all the questions as to why this accident involved our respective families and loved ones, and words will be of little comfort but we continue to pray that the family will receive solace in days and months to come.
Though Jabari survived this tragedy, his life has been significantly impacted, having lived through a moment he will never be able to forget. Please know that our love, thoughts and prayers are with you all.
