A Coral Springs man is facing aggravated battery charges after he punched an elderly man in the head three times, causing the man to suffer “a slight brain bleed” and maybe even a stroke that led to partial loss of use of his arms and legs, a police report said.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday night arrested Brendon Trabelsi in Broward County on a warrant filed by Boca Raton police. The 21-year-old is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail without bond.
According to the police report, on March 7, the 73-year-old man asked Trabelsi and another male, neither of whom he recognized, to leave a Boca Raton apartment complex for which he is the landlord. The police report did not disclose the street address of the apartment complex.
Witnesses gave police differing accounts of what happened immediately afterward. However, they said Trabelsi eventually hit the man, knocking him to the ground. A neighbor had to help the man up.
Emergency crews took the man to Delray Medical Center as a trauma alert. Doctors there told police that, in addition to the injuries, the man suffered a stroke, which likely resulted from the stress he endured during the confrontation with Trabelsi, the report said.
