Authorities have identified a 20-year-old man shot to death Friday night by a Boca Raton police officer as Adam Christian Donohue.
The officer shot Donohue during a violent struggle that began with police in pursuit of a carjacker, Boca Raton police spokeswoman Sandra Boonenberg said after the shooting.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office also identified the officers involved as Brian Pare, who pulled the trigger, and Chris Bradley as a witness to the events who also deployed his Taser.
Friday, Boonenberg reported that the officers responded shortly before 9 p.m. to the attempted carjacking of a Comcast employee in the area of Northwest Fourth and 20th streets. The man then carjacked a taxi cab, and officers encountered the suspect in the area of Spanish River Boulevard and North Military Trail, just east of Lynn University.
The officer was not shot, but was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
