Police say the Port St. Lucie man who shot an officer in the leg after a domestic dispute call turned into a standoff started to surrender so he could smoke a cigar with the negotiator. That’s after he’d reportedly had 15 beers.
Robert Lee Frey, 54, was arrested shortly before 5:30 a.m. Thursday. He faces charges of attempted murder, battery and resisting an officer and is currently being held on $2.2 million bond.
