More than four years after Wilson Pierre Jr. was convicted of opening fire amid Christmas Eve shoppers at the Boynton Beach Mall and fatally shooting a rival, he has won a new trial.
In an unusual move, the 4th District Court of Appeal reversed an earlier ruling and Wednesday granted Pierre a new trial for killing 24-year-old Berno Charlemond in 2006 while thousands of frightened shoppers dove for cover.
