A woman who taught special needs children in Belle Glade and a 6-year-old Wellington boy leaving a McDonald’s — both of whom died — are two of the latest victims of hit-and-run crashes, a crime which local authorities say has been increasing statewide over the past two years.
To battle this increase, Florida Highway Patrol, the Florida Sheriffs Association, the Florida Police of Chiefs Association and the Florida Department of Transportation are working together to educate drivers about what their responsibilities are in the event of a crash.
