Campus officials said that security cameras captured a bear wandering by an outdoor table and set of chairs.

The bear sighting was said to be rare and UCF campus police asked students to stay away from the animal, not to feed it or make sudden movements.

“If you encounter a bear at close range, remain standing upright, back up slowly and speak to the bear in a calm, assertive voice,” the police statement read. “Do not turn your back, play dead, climb or run. Also avoid direct eye contact, which can be viewed as aggressive.”

There wasn’t believed to be any students in the area while the bear was roaming the area, according to the Orlando Sentinel
