BOCA RATON — Three donors gifted the Boca Raton Regional Hospital $35 million, which will help fund a seven-story patient tower and intensive care unit.

Stanley and Marilyn Barry, Christine E. Lynn, and Richard and Barbara Schmidt donated the $35 million in what the hospital is calling “one of the most profound displays of philanthropy” in the hospital’s history. The Barrys gave $10 million, Lynn $15 million and the Schmidts $10 million.

The $35 million will go toward the hospital’s major capital campaign set to launch some time this year. Part of the campaign includes a 278,000-square-foot annex to the hospital, on Meadows Road near Glades Road and Northwest 13th Street.

The annex will have an expanded and renovated surgical suite, an enhanced surgical intensive care unit and medical intensive care unit, a new cardiovascular intensive care and stepdown Unit, expanded private patient rooms, a new and patient lobby and a new parking garage.
