Wellington reschedules trunk-or-treat for Halloween night

Organizers said Monday that a planned trunk-or-treat event at Wellington Community High School has been rescheduled after the effects of Tropical Storm Philippe washed out the fun on Saturday.

Wellington’s Community Services Department and Wellington High’s DECA Club now will have its annual Trunk or Treat from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Halloween night, in the student parking lot at Wellington High, 2101 Greenview Shores Blvd.

In addition to the candy, attendees can enjoy music, craft tables and a costume contest for children.

Trunk-or-treat events have become increasingly popular over the past decade, with several in the western communities drawing sometimes hundreds of children and their families.

At trunk-or-treat events, volunteers decorate their cars with spooky decor and pass out candy. The events typically are held in parking lots or fields, and often are fenced in, allowing youngsters to roam in an enclosed area.

For more information or to volunteer for Tuesday night’s trunk-or-treat event at Wellington High, contact Cheryl Lueke at 561-795-4919 or cheryl.lueke@palmbeachschools.org.
