More flights to, from South Florida delayed by storm

Wellington Fall Fest hayrides and haunted hallways a big hit for kids

Despite the clouds, about 7,500 people turned out for Wellington’s Fall Fest on Saturday at Village Park, officials said.

The event, which has been held for more than 20 years, featured extended hours so families with younger children could enjoy the spooky festivities and still make it home for bedtime, said Michelle Garvey, the village’s community programs manager.

This year’s Fall Fest included a pie eating contest, costume contests, a hayride and the always-popular Haunted Hallways, where ghouls leap out at attendees from the corridors of the Village Park Athletics Complex.

This year’s event was sponsored by Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, which is building a new facility on State Road 7 north of Lake Worth Road.
