Trump in Palm Beach: President ends 5-hour golf trip, returns to Mar-a-Lago

President Trump and his wife Melania and son Barron arrived at Palm Beach International Airport about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday to begin their Thanksgiving holiday. The president, who is visiting his Mar-a-Lago estate for the first time since April, was briefed early this morning on a Navy crash into the sea near Japan and fired off some pre-sunrise tweets blasting UCLA basketball dad Lamar Ball and NFL players who kneel during the national anthem. 

UPDATE, 6:20 p.m.: President Trump remains at Mar-a-Lago and has no public events scheduled the rest of the night.

3:40 p.m.: The Trump Organization tweeted today about some of the architectural details of at Mar-a-Lago.

2:50 p.m.: After five hours at his golf course in West Palm Beach, President Trump returned to Mar-a-Lago at 2:35 p.m. Still don’t know how many holes he played. 

2:40 p.m.: It’s good to be a in the road baricade business when Trump comes to town.

1:51 p.m.: President Trump is wrapping up his golf outing at his golf course in West Palm Beach. We don’t know how many holes he played, his score or his partners. 

During seven presidential visits to Mar-a-Lago between February and April, Trump played golf an estimated 14 golf times at Trump International.

He shook up his Florida routine once in February by golfing at Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

12:05 p.m.: After more than seven months away from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, President Donald Trump quickly returned to his familiar South Florida rhythms this morning by visiting his nearby Trump International Golf Club. 

During seven presidential visits to Mar-a-Lago between February and April, Trump played golf an estimated 14 golf times at Trump International.

Trump’s golf outings are often shrouded in mystery, perhaps because as a private citizen and then as a presidential candidate he often accused former President Barack Obama of spending too much time on the links.

Six years ago today, for instance, Trump tweeted: “Yesterday @BarackObama actually spent a full day in Washington. He didn’t campaign, fund raise or play golf. Shocking.”   

11:45 a.m.: As President Trump continues his golf outing this morning, armed Coast Guard pontoon boats are trolling the waters of the intracoastal waterway. The boats became a regular sight during the president’s earlier visits this year.  

11:19 a.m.:  A balmy 80-degrees in Palm Beach with no rain.

  9:30 a.m.: According to George Bennett, President Trump’s motorcade is en route to Trump International Golf Club.

8:00 a.m.: President Trump was briefed on the Navy plane crash off Japan this morning before heading to the golf club. For more, click here.
