Applebee’s restaurant in Jupiter West Plaza closed in May. Dean Lavalee, the owner of PA BBQ & Grill, has signed a lease on the one-story, brick building. Unlike the other eight PA’s that just sell beer and wine, this store also will sell a limited amount of “alcoholic craft cocktails that compliment BBQ,” Lavalee said.
Lavalee plans to spend about $350,000 “completely remodeling” the building, which will seat 190. Outdoor seating is planned. Opening is scheduled in about three months in the plaza on the northeast corner of I-95 and Indiantown Road. A PA BBQ in Jupiter Farms closed in 2009.
WHAT IT MEANS TO YOU.
Lavalee, who started PA BBQ in 1988 in Lake Park and now has about 400 employees, plans to hire about 50 people in his ninth restaurant. He selected the location because of the high concentration of customers. “This could be the best location we ever had,” Lavalee said.
