Teen donated 100 items to Palms West Hospital on Thanksgiving

While most people were enjoying Thanksgiving morning off last week, a 14-year-old was spreading good cheer to children who spent their holiday in the hospital.

Kayla Abramowitz and her family donated 100 items to Palm’s West Hospital, including DVDs, video games, educational toys and games. She also participated in crafts with the kids.

The Dwyer High School Freshman has now donated more than 12,000 items across all 50 states.

Abramowitz founded Kayla Cares 4 Kids after she had multiple extended hospital stays for her own Crohn’s Disease, Juvenile Arthritis and Eosinophilic Colitis. She just wants to make their stay a little more enjoyable.

Palms West was the 110th facility the organization has reached, including in-person deliveries in almost 20 states.

The hospital has encouraged activities for the kids. Wellington High School senior Daniel Clein donated 230 pounds of used Legos and 50 boxes of new Legos to Palms West last month.

Officials have also started a yearly tradition of having the window washers dress up as superheroes when they’re working on the outside of the building to make the children happy.
