NEW: RaceTrac in Royal Palm Beach opens this week

It’s finally happening: The new RaceTrac in Royal Palm Beach will open this week.

The much-debated gas station and convenience store will be ready for action Tuesday morning, said RaceTrac spokeswoman Liz McIntyre.

The location on the northwest corner of Southern and Royal Palm Beach boulevards will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There will not be a grand opening event, McIntyre said.

The RaceTrac originally was slated to open this past summer, but was held up by a water meter issue, McIntyre told The Palm Beach Post last month.

RaceTrac’s 2015 proposal to build in Royal Palm Beach set off a chain of debates at public meetings as residents voices opposition to and support for the project.

Construction on the gas station began earlier this year.
