NEW: Bicyclist killed west of Boynton after being run over by truck


A Miami man was killed Monday night in suburban Boynton Beach after he was run over by a tractor-trailer while riding his bicycle, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Witnesses told investigators that Pedro Moreno, 51, attempted to beat the tractor-trailer across the intersection of Boynton Beach Boulevard and Lyons Road, but was struck and run over by the truck’s wheels, PBSO said.

The crash took place at about 9:30 p.m. Moreno was taken to Delray Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 10:12 p.m.

Moreno’s bicycle had no lights and the tractor-trailer driven by John Tsibidis of Quebec had the right of way as it turned north onto Lyons Road, the sheriff’s office said.
