Jupiter Town Manager Andy Lukasik has been offered the job as the new village manager in North Palm Beach.
“I’m going to take it,” said Lukasik, 46, who has been town manager of Jupiter since 2004.
Lukasik’s knowledge of and experience in north county gave him the advantage over the original 28 applicants, said North Palm Beach Mayor David Norris.
“(Lukasik) will fit well into our community,” said Norris.
Lukasik must negotiate a salary before he takes the new position.
He and his family plan to move from Jupiter to North Palm Beach, Lukasik said.
North Palm Beach is about five square miles and has about 13,000 residents, Jupiter is about 22 square miles and has about 60,000 residents. North Palm Beach’s annual budget is about $18 million; Jupiter’ is about $80 million.
Former North Palm Beach Village Manager Jim Kelly’s salary was about $140,000. Lukasik earns about $180,000 in Jupiter.
The town expects to conduct a nationwide search to fill the position, according to Jupiter Mayor Todd Wodraska.
