“Project Knight,” an undisclosed company seeking a $560,000 incentive package to consolidate jobs in Palm Beach Gardens, won the support of the City Council.

Palm Beach Gardens’ share of the package is $70,000, which the City Council approved Thursday night. Palm Beach County is expected to pick up another $70,000, and the state will cover the rest.

There was no public comment or Council discussion on the matter, which was listed on the consent agenda - a list of items Council usually deals with in a single vote.

To get the incentives, the company will be required to invest $25 million in its building in Palm Beach Gardens and create 100 jobs in three years. The jobs will have an average annual wage of $91,124.

State law allows companies to ask for confidentiality when negotiating with an economic development agency for incentives.

However, “Project Knight” is described as the “world’s largest provider of building technologies,” which is how United Technologies brands its Climate, Controls & Security division on its website and in news releases.

In 2015, United Technologies subsidiary Carrier Corp. received $4.9 million from the governor’s Quick Action Closing Fund for its $115 million technology showcase off Donald Ross Road.

In other news, Police Chief Stephen Stepp has been named interim deputy city manager upon the retirement of Jack Doughney. Assistant Chief Clint Shannon has been named interim police chief.
