There is movement, again, at the former Kwik Stop property on Federal Highway north of Woolbright Road.
The property, at 1305 S. Federal Highway, is undergoing a major renovation and will be a laundromat and a high-end convenience store that will serve fresh food and lunch meat, said Mike Rumpf, the city’s director of development.
Rajas Family Investments Inc. bought the land in September 2016 for $650,000, according to property appraiser records. Rajas Family is run by Shamsad and Shafiqul Islam. Both were unable to be reached Tuesday.
The Islams also own the Ocean Food Mart property at Ocean Avenue and Federal Highway.
The 3,200-square-foot property was to be renovated about two years ago but nothing ever came of it.
Kwik Stop occupied the property for at least the past 20 years, and ran a laundromat next door.
The property over time became dilapidated and stands out beside the modern Las Ventanas residential and retail development, now called One Boynton.
It’s also next to a Dunkin’ Donuts and just north of Sunshine Square.
