Rosarian Academy students sponsor gleaning effort to benefit food bank


PALM BEACH MARITIME ACADEMY AND HIGH SCHOOL

Open house programs take place 10 a.m. to noon March 3 for families interested in learning more about the tuition-free, marine science-enriched charter school. The elementary school is at 1518 W. Lantana Road, Lantana and the middle/high school campus is at 600 S. East Coast Ave., Lantana. Refreshments will be served.

SEMINOLE RIDGE HIGH

Students in the Spanish National Honor Society will offer tutoring to ESOL students in all subjects, including math, English, history, science, reading and SAT prep, from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursdays in upstairs Building 4. The sessions will continue through the end of April.

CARDINAL NEWMAN HIGH

A blood drive takes place 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today in the gymnasium.

Newman Night 2018 — Crusaders Set Sail — takes place March 3 at the Kravis Center’s Cohen Pavilion. Cocktails, hors d’ouevres and a silent auction begin at 6 p.m. Dinner, dancing and live auction start at 8 p.m. Entertainment is by Kenny Mondo DJ Productions. Tickets are $225 per person. An exhibition of artwork in the 2018 Regional Scholastic Arts Awards takes place Feb. 24 at the Armory Art Center, 811 Park Place, West Palm Beach. An award ceremony honoring all winners begins at 1 p.m., followed by the exhibition from 2 to 4 p.m. Gold and Silver Key work — about 438 pieces — will be on display. Students who receive a Gold Key will proceed to national competition for additional awards and opportunities.

The entry deadline for the Essay & Creative Arts Competition sponsored by the Palm Beach Fellowship of Christians & Jews has been extended to March 12. The contest is open to all middle and high school students in public, private, parochial and charter schools in the county. Categories include essay writing, music, video and visual arts, with middle and high school divisions. The topic, “The Road Not Taken,” is inspired by the Robert Frost poem. Students can win cash prizes and other gifts. Supervising teachers are eligible to win gift cards for school supplies.
