DONNA KLEIN JEWISH ACADEMY
Abe Waserstein, a senior at Claire and Emanuel G. Rosenblatt High at the academy, has been awarded a $20,000 college scholarship by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. He will join other Coca-Cola Scholars in Atlanta this month for Scholars Weekend and participate in a Leadership Development Institute.
The eighth annual Alan Lebow Award for Excellence in Shakespearean Performance was presented recently in the Kravis Center’s Khoury Family Dance Rehearsal Hall. Created by Kids’ Dreams Inc. in memory of its co-founder, Alan Lebow, the award honors students from Title I high schools who perform short selections from William Shakespeare’s works before a panel of judges.
The top winners, each earning a $1,000 cash prize, were Kathie Torres and Ryan Gosling, students at Royal Palm Beach High. Three students earned Honorable Mention awards and $500 each: Sendjia Alliance, Santaluces High; Morgan Kennedy, Boynton Beach High; and Claudia Torres, Royal Palm Beach High. Awarded $250 as Distinguished Participants were Adam Benjamin, Raymond Cuas and November Nielsen, Boynton Beach High; Emily Medina, Santaluces High; Sidney Smith, Royal Palm Beach High; and Harry L. Willis III, Palm Beach Gardens High.
The George Snow Scholarship Fund will host its annual Tiki Dinner 6 to 10 p.m. April 19 at the Boca Raton Resort and Club. Tickets are limited and are $250 per person. For information, call 561-347-6799 or visit www.scholarship.org.
