‘Grease’ is the word in Saint Andrew’s School’s theater production

SAINT ANDREW’S SCHOOL

The Performing Arts Department presents “Grease” on stage at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 1:30 p.m. Saturday; and 2 p.m. Sunday. Performances are at the school’s Roberts Theater, 3900 Jog Road, Boca Raton.

DONNA KLEIN JEWISH ACADEMY

The Second Chance Prom Dance and Auction begins at 8:30 p.m. March 25 at The Polo Club of Boca Raton. The festivities include the crowning of a prom queen and king, traditional prom photos, a special yearbook display and a tribute to Donna Klein Jewish Academy’s Claire and Emanuel G. Rosenblatt High School Class of 2017. The event, planned for students’ parents and guests, will raise funds for the school’s academic programs, fine arts, athletic program and need-based tuition assistance. Tickets are $200. Students will have their own prom later in the year.

BRIEFLY

The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is inviting students in grades six-12 to apply to a free summer mentorship program to produce a new adaptation of Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett’s play, “The Diary of Anne Frank,” as adapted by Wendy Kesselman. The show will take place on the theater’s stage Aug. 12.

Applicants for the project will be interviewed and chosen by a committee. Winning students will then take on specific roles throughout the summer months that include producer, director, set designer, costume designer, lighting designer, sound designer, properties designer, stage manager, assistant stage manager, marketing, press relations, development, carpentry/electrics, run crew and wardrobe. The students will then lead three weeks of rehearsals before mounting the show on stage.

The deadline to apply is Monday, with interviews scheduled through March 10. Submission packets are available by visiting www.jupitertheatre.org/youth-artists-chair-program.

The 2017 Dunkin Donuts South/Southwest Florida Scholarship Program is underway. Fifteen $1,000 college scholarships will be awarded to high school students in South and Southwest Florida. Applications are available at www.scholarsapply.org/ddonuts-fl and will be accepted until April 30.
