ALLAMANDA ELEMENTARY

The third annual health and wellness expo, “Fitness, Food, and Friendship Around the World,” takes place 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 31 in the cafeteria. Dozens of vendors, including Triumph Kids, Team XTreme, Kidding Around Yoga, 9Round, Digital Vibez and North Palm Beach Tennis, will be on hand. The school and the Kiwanis of North Palm Beach are co-sponsoring the third annual Strive Five for the Hive 5K Run, 3K Walk at 8 a.m. March 11 at The Gardens Mall. Those who register at www.active.com (search for Allamanda) by Feb. 9 can participate in a contest to win a 2018 Honda. The first 300 registered participants will receive a dry-fit race shirt. There will be trophies for first place, participant medals and breakfast at Brio Tuscan Grille for all registered participants.

PALM BEACH GARDENS ELEMENTARY

The second annual Daddy/Daughter Dance takes place 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 9 at Palm Beach Gardens High, 4245 Holly Drive. Light refreshments and desserts will be served. Tickets are on sale now. Questions can be directed to missycarlson1983@yahoo.com.

Science Fair Night and Ice Cream Social, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Feb. 13, will include a display of projects by students in grades three through five. Menchies ice cream sundaes will be available. The school’s band will perform.

ST. CLARE CATHOLIC SCHOOL

Winter open house sessions for new families are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday.

BRIEFLY

Palm Beach educators Maureen Carter, Brad Weinberg, Tawny Anderson and Marie-Amalie Farris recently attended the Jewish Foundation for the Righteous’ Advanced Seminar for Holocaust Educators in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The seminar is an intensive graduate-level program in which a select group of educators who are already well-versed in Holocaust history are given the opportunity to study more focused topics relating to the Holocaust.

The school district will observe Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day on Feb. 2 and encourages businesses and organizations throughout the county to show students how their classroom lessons apply in the workplace. Students from kindergarten through 12th grade may participate.

CRYSTAL LAKE ELEMENTARY

Trisha Elliott was selected as one of three finalists for the Outstanding Assistant Principal Achievement Award. She will attend the Commissioner’s Summit for Principals on Feb. 9 in Orlando. Elliott joined Martin County School District in 2008 and became assistant principal at Crystal Lake in 2013.
