Q.: We moved to Tequesta, from Las Vegas, three months ago. In Las Vegas, we had a dog door that led to our patio, which had no barriers to the back yard. Both of our dogs used the door with no issues: Less than once a month we had a mess on the patio. Here in Tequesta, we have a dog door from the house to a screened patio, then another dog door to the dog run. At least two to four times per week, one or both of them will urinate on the patio; and about once every 3 weeks, maybe a little longer, one of them will defecate on the patio.
We have tried the following with limited or no success: sprinkling cayenne pepper on the spots on the patio, cleaning the mess on the patio with “Odo Ban,” spraying 3/4 of the patio with a vinegar/water mix, sprayed coyote urine in the dog run, sprayed “Nature’s Miracle stain & odor remover” on the patio, sprayed “OUT! Housetraining for Puppies” in the dog run. We also walk them two to three times a day.
