Palm Springs man arrested in double shooting that left one dead

Father of woman found dead in Palm Beach Gardens: This was a murder

After struggling to overcome a history of drug addiction, Margeaux Greenwald had begun to turn her life around, according to family members.

Over the past three years, Greenwald had been helping other recovering addicts, managing various halfway houses in the West Palm Beach area, her father, Larry Greenwald, said Wednesday evening.

But Margeaux Greenwald’s life ended recently under mysterious circumstances. Palm Beach Gardens police said that Greenwald, 35, was the woman whose body was found just north of PGA Boulevard on Saturday afternoon. Police found the body in a wooded area on Kyoto Drive, just west of RCA Center Drive and north of PGA Boulevard, around 1 p.m. after receiving a tip. The site is between Interstate 95 and the Downtown at the Gardens shopping center.

Police have not said how she died. Spokeswoman Ellen Lovejoy said that a cause will not be known until the autopsy has been been completed.

But Larry Greenwald, speaking from his home in New Jersey, said he did not believe his daughter’s death was an accident or drug-related.

“This was absolutely not an overdose,” he said. “This was a murder.”

Greenwald said that he had been in regular touch with Margeaux over the past three years, but lost contact with her a little more than a month ago. Greenwald said his daughter moved to South Florida about a decade ago to enter a drug rehabilitation program.

“She was putting her life together,” he said. “What happened the last five weeks before her death, I am in the dark about. We had conversations at least twice a week for the last three years and everything looked good and was promising.”
