Sarasota will throw a parade on Friday to welcome home daredevil wire-walker Nik Wallenda.
In the crowd was a woman who knows what it’s like to dangle at skyscraper heights: Dolly Jacobs, who first thrilled Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus crowds with her daring aerial routine in 1976.

$20 deal: See Sarasota’s Summer Circus Spectacular and more
Dolly Jacobs performs her dynamic aerial ballet alongside a troupe of outstanding circus performers this summer at Sarasota’s Summer Circus Spectacular, at the Ringling Museum’s historic Asolo Theater.
For $20, you can see the show, plus tour the Ringling Circus Museum and learn about the history of the circus. The Asolo Theater itself is worth a trip to Sarasota — it was created in Asolo, Italy, in 1798. In the late 1940s, the theater was dismantled and brought to the Ringling estate in Sarasota.
SUMMER CIRCUS SPECTACULAR: Produced by Circus Sarasota. Historic Asolo Theater, Ringling Museum, 5401 Bay Shore Road, Sarasota. Through Aug. 3. For the show alone, tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children. Call 941-360-7399; ringling.org
