With a nod to the perceived lighter tastes of summer audiences, Slow Burn Theatre Company has sidestepped its more ambitious, darker fare and offered up a pleasant enough entertainment, the conventional rom-com musical, “The Wedding Singer,” adapted from the 1998 Adam Sandler-Drew Barrymore flick.
“The Wedding Singer” is full of jokes and references about the 1980s and a mellow rock score by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin that mimics the pop charts of the period. While the show is a few cuts below the material that Slow Burn usually gravitates to, the group does its best not to notice.
