The nearest South Florida gets to the Venice Biennale is Art Basel during the winter, but a little piece of the epically scaled Mothership is now available just down the road in Boca Raton.
“Transitions,” at the Boca Raton Museum of Art, showcases Victor Matthews and Paolo Nicola Rossini, two young artists featured at this year’s Biennale. Matthews is American, Rossini, Italian. Matthews works in oils and sculpture, Rossini with photography. Photographs of the Venice exhibitions show that the artists were exhibiting in natural surroundings, which worked better for Matthews than it did for the overtly surreal Rossini.
