Nature is the perfect photographer’s model — she works cheap. So it is that the Palm Beach Photo Centre’s 17th Annual Infocus Juried Show offers a plethora of great nature shots taken by the entrants, generally of nature in repose.
In particular, Marjorie Neu’s shot of the Milky Way as viewed from Namibia is breathtaking. The stars burn through with a radiance impossible anywhere but a wilderness without ambient light, and Neu uses some fill light to illuminate a foreground tree. On a lower level but equally pleasurable is Daniela Gross’ “Moving Clouds at the Pier,” which contrasts the soft yellow of the beach sand against the blues and grays of the sky.
