Chances are you have not yet heard of theater composer-lyricist Daniel Mate’, but Louis Tyrrell, artistic director of The Theatre at Arts Garage, is pretty sure you will soon know that name.
“I think he’s next Jonathan Larson (“Rent”) or Stephen Sondheim (“Company”). I think his storytelling in lyrics is as good as it gets,” says Tyrrell of the 2013 Kleban Prize winner for most promising musical theater lyricist. “He’s the real deal.”
