UPDATE: Teen wounded in Lake Park shooting expected to survive


A 17-year-old who was riding his bicycle with friends Monday evening was the target of a shooting in Lake Park, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.

The teen’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. On Tuesday, sheriff’s investigators continued efforts to determine a motive and to identify a suspect.

Investigators say the teen and his friends were riding on the 3400 block of Bayberry Drive, north of Siliver Beach Road and west of U.S. 1, when an unknown male approached and began shooting at him.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County at 800-458-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted anonymously by downloading the PBSO smartphone app.
