UPDATE: 1 dead, 1 expected to survive South Bay shooting


9 p.m., UPDATE: The individual shot and taken to hospital Monday evening is expected to survive, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office did not identify the person who died or the individual recovering in the hospital after the shooting in South Bay.

Detectives do not believe this shooting is related to the shooting in near the health department in Belle Glade.

The investigation is ongoing.

Original Story: One person is dead and another was sent to the hospital after a shooting in South Bay Monday evening, according to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

Crews were called to an area near 9th Avenue and Palm Beach Road, near State Road 27, where one unidentified person was found dead and the other injured.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is at the scene. At this time, it’s unclear if this is related to a shooting near the Belle Glade Health Department.
