A Palm Beach Gardens man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly pointed a gun at his neighbor and pelted the man’s house with potted plants, according to an arrest report.
Lino Bergamin, 50, is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief and was released from the Palm Beach County Jail after posting a $5,000 bond.
One neighbor on the 3700 block of Lighthouse Drive, west of Alternate State Road A1A, said Bergamin opened a hole in his fence, then pointed a gun at the victim through the hole, the report said.
Other residents inside the victim’s home told Palm Beach Gardens police that Bergamin threw potted plants and furniture at them from his side of the fence.
Police arrived and surrounded Bergamin’s home. He exited without incident.
Bergamin stated that someone had shot out his bedroom window and that he armed himself in response, the report said.
A witness told police that Bergamin ran to his house and said something about “getting the guys that live next to him … ,” the report said.
Police said there was no evidence that Bergamin’s house had been targeted and there was no damage to his bedroom window.
Bergamin told police that he was “ready to do whatever he needed to do” and added that he had previously threatened his neighbors. The report also states that Bergamin “has previously threatened to harm law-enforcement officers.”
Police said that several weapons were found inside Bergamin’s home and that he would not get them back until he provides a court order testifying to his mental competency.
