A Wellington man was arrested Wednesday after deputies say he shot his 12- and 13-year-old children with a BB gun, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report.
Michael Hunt, 48, repeatedly threatened to have the Florida Department of Children and Family Services take his children away, the 13-year-old girl told deputies. Then Sunday he fired BBs at her and her brother, she said.
Hunt reportedly told his daughter she had five seconds to run before he would shot her. She ran toward her bedroom, and Hunt shot her in the buttocks with a BB, she told deputies. She screamed, “It hurts really bad.” Deputies say it left a red bruise.
Hunt also shot his 12-year-old son, who was hiding underneath a blanket, the sheriff’s office report said. He was not injured.
Hunt is charged with aggravated child abuse and was being held Thursday in the Palm Beach County Jail, with his bail set at $5,000, court records show.
