PBSO: Girl, 11, pregnant after Boynton man, 38, repeatedly raped her

An 11-year-old girl is pregnant after a 38-year-old Boynton Beach man had a “moment of weakness” which he detailed to Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies Wednesday.

But the girl, who learned Wednesday she was pregnant, told deputies Elvin Benitez-Lopez had dozens of “moments of weakness.”

It started when she was 9. Benitez-Lopez would unlock the bathroom door and touch her while she showered. He most recently raped her the day before Thanksgiving, she told deputies from a room at Bethesda Hospital East.

Benitez-Lopez denied raping the girl more than once, and that was on Halloween. The girl got out of the shower, he told deputies. He saw her in a towel, commented on how she “looked like a woman,” then had his “moment of weakness.”

The relationship between the girl and the man is unclear.

Benitez-Lopez is charged with 20 counts of raping a minor and one count of impregnating a minor, jail records show. The Guatemala citizen is being held without bond in the Palm Beach County Jail until his next court appearance Jan. 3.
